The Rugby > Competitions, Entry Fees & Prizes

Grades

Senior / Elite

This men’s event used to be known as our Senior Competition. This section carries the highest prize money, and entrants will enjoy separate competitions, one on Saturday for a winner’s trophy, the results of which are used  to seed a new competition on Sunday. The Heineken Senior Cup on Sunday carries the highest prizes, with cash prizes being awarded to the top 8 teams.

Open

This men’s competition is intended for those teams who wish to enjoy a competitive standard of 7’s rugby and cash prizes are available to the top 4 placed teams. The competition takes place over the Saturday and Sunday, with pool play on Saturday and knockout sections on Sunday.

Social

This men’s competition is for teams who travel to Kinsale primarily to enjoy the festival atmosphere and play some enjoyable 7’s rugby. Fancy dress and imaginative team strip are encouraged in this section. There is a trophy for the winners and a prize donated by the tournament director. Competition will be structured depending upon the number of teams entered.

Ladies

Women’s teams of all abilities are invited to join in this popular competition. Like the Elite competition, there are separate Saturday and Sunday competitions. All teams participate on Saturday, and the winners will receive a trophy. On Sunday, teams are seeded into the Senior Ladies cup competition which carries a cash prize for the top 4 placed teams, and the Ladies Plate to provide some Sunday play for lower seeded teams with a trophy for the winners.

Team Pack
Once your team application is accepted, your team representative will receive login details to access the team administration section of our website. Once logged in your representative will be able to download team match schedules and create lists of travelling personnel to pre-order event wrist bands which will save your party a lot of time on arrival to the event.

On arrival at the venue...
All team managers must visit the control booth in the Entrance Marquee to collect your Weekend Pack and register your arrival.  This pack contains meal vouchers, competition vouchers, details of your matches and start times, and any last minute changes to the schedule.

To avoid queuing at the event, players may register in advance by completing the travelling personnel list in the team management section. Your team managers may organise this for their players. Pre-prepared wristbands can then be collected directly from the Entrance Marquee upon arrival by showing valid ID. If you are arriving on the Friday this is an excellent opportunity to complete all your administrative tasks so you are free to enjoy the competition on Saturday and Sunday.
